Lab information
Liaqat Lab
At Liaqat Lab, we are in the early stages of developing a research platform focused on plant-derived extracellular vesicles (PDEVs) and their biomedical applications. PDEVs are nanoscale vesicles naturally released by plant cells, carrying bioactive molecules such as proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids that can influence cellular functions across biological systems.
Our research aims to explore the potential of PDEVs as innovative, biocompatible therapeutic agents, particularly in the context of oral health and disease. By investigating their antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and possible anticancer properties, we seek to establish a foundation for their use in preventive and therapeutic strategies.
As this research is still in its developmental phase, our current efforts are focused on optimizing isolation methods, characterizing vesicle properties, and evaluating their biological activity. Through this work, Liaqat Lab aspires to contribute to the growing field of extracellular vesicle research and to uncover novel, plant-based solutions for improving human health.
