Current position

Bruce Polsky is a professional publishing and association executive experienced in building publishing programs, managing society-publisher relationships, strategic planning and vendor/partner negotiations. In 2010, Mayo Clinic Proceedings recruited him as a consultant to identify prospective partners and negotiate a new publisher agreement. For a number of years, Bruce continued to work with the journal and Mayo Clinic leadership, helping to articulate and implement strategic plans, as well as to provide ongoing oversight of their publishing relationship and business operations.

In addition to his assignment with Mayo Clinic, Bruce has also been engaged in an array of consulting projects for the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS), the American College of Asthma, Allergy & Immunology (ACAAI), the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American Thoracic Society (ATS), among others.

Prior to his consulting work, Bruce served seven years as Chief Executive Officer for the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Press, during which time he revitalized the value of their peer-reviewed, flagship journal, Neurology, founded an award-winning patient magazine, Neurology Now, and helped triple the value of their journals program. Bruce has worked more than thirty years in medical publishing with executive appointments at Mosby and Oakstone. He has also served eight years as a member of the faculty for the Council of Science Editors’ annual "Short Course for Journal Editors," helping to develop course curricula and facilitate class discussions.
