We speculate that C57BL/6 female mice during 7–8 weeks of age have a weak response to superovulation treatment using equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) due to the unstable release of endogenous gonadotropins. As reported previously (Takeo et al. 2019), we have experienced the decrease in the number of ovulated oocytes during concerned age.
