I have heard it before but I cannot find any souces on what is the reason for why blood type 0 or guinia pig blood can be used substitutes for bakers yeast when looking at type 1 fimbrea?

Dear Charlotte,

Type 1 fimbria binds to mannose-containing receptors (mannosylated glycoproteins) which are present on yeast cells, but also on human erythrocytes group 0 and guinea pig red blood cells.
