What are the functions of SDS, SDS-PAGE,AB,AP and TEMED in SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis?

Monash University
SDS can destroy the disulfide bonds of proteins to denature proteins and alter protein structure, at the same time, a large negative charge is attached to the protein.
SDS -page is a prefabricated gel, that is a kind of gel that is pre-made in plastic panels. It can be used directly.
AB is gel precursor
AP can catalyze monopropyl and bipropylene polymerization into polyacrylamide. TEMED can is a accelerator, accelerates AP catalysis. They are used to polymerize gels.
Hope this helps you!

SDS destroys the disulfide bond of the protein, denatures the protein, changes the structure of the protein, and attaches a large amount of negative charge to the protein. AB is the gel precursor. Ammonium persulfate (AP) was used as a catalyst and tetramethylene diamine (TEMED) as an accelerator. In the polymerization process, TEMED catalyzes ammonium persulfate to generate free radicals, which trigger the polymerization of acrylamide monomer and generate methyl-bisacrylamide cross-linking with acrylamide chain, thus forming a three-dimensional network structure.
