Cell detachment protocol using EDTA?

I cannot use trypsin or other proteases to detach adherent cells from cell culture dishes for certain FACS experiments. Does anyone have experience with non-proteolytic protocols to detach cells such as the use of EDTA?

There are commercially available enzyme-free cell dissociation buffers (e.g. https://www.thermofisher.com/order/catalog/product/13151014 but you can find similar with many companies).

I used such a buffer some years ago. it works ok, but depends on cell type (i.e. how strongly they are attached) and if my memory serves, it does take longer than trypsin.
