The appropriate methyl ester derivative 4 (1 equiv) was heated under reflux with the excess of 10% aqueous solution of NaOH for 3h. Then, 10% aqueous solution of HCl was added portionwise to acidic pH. The mixture was diluted with EtOAc and washed three times with water and once with brine. The organic layer was dried with Na2SO4, evaporated, and dried under vacuum.
