After 24 h of BGNP exposure, cells were trypsinized, centrifuged at 1200 rpm for 5 min, and resuspended with PBS for the uptake analysis via flow cytometry. A side scattering setting associated with a 488-nm excitation laser was used to detect BGNPs uptake [33,34]. The median fold-increase was used to quantify the SSC of BGNP-treated cells compared to not treated cells. All the flow cytometric analyses were performed using an EasyCyte 6-2L (Guava Technologies, Merck, Darmstadt, Germany) instrument. At least 10,000 events were evaluated for each analyzed sample.
