The envelopes of theta, alpha and beta bands were extracted in a similar manner as the broadband gamma frequency except that steps were 1 Hz for θ and α and 5 Hz for β. The ranges corresponding to the different frequency bands were as follows: broadband gamma was defined as 50–150 Hz, beta as 13–33 Hz, alpha as 8–13 Hz, and theta as 4–8 Hz. For each trial, baseline correction (Z-score) was applied using the average and standard deviation computed over a 6-s epoch centered around outcome onset (−3 to 3 s).
