Data are presented as mean ± SEM. Statistical tests were performed using Prism v4 (GraphPad Software, San Diego, CA). Data were compared between groups of cells and animals by a 2-tailed unpaired Student t-test. Two-way ANOVA was applied for multiple comparisons, followed by Bonferroni’s multiple comparison analysis. The statistical analysis was based on n, indicating the number of independent biological samples or mice as described in detail in the respective figure legends. Values of *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, #p < 0.001 were considered statistically significant.
