The modified Hoagland’s solution was prepared using the following chemicals (in M): Ca(NO3)2·4H2O 5 × 10−3, KNO3 5 × 10−3, KH2PO4 1 × 10−3, MgSO4·7H2O 2 × 10−3, FeSO4·7H2O 0.02 × 10−3, H3BO3 0.045 × 10−3, CuSO4·5H2O 0.3 × 10−6, Na2MoO4·2H2O 0.1 × 10−6, MnCl2·4H2O 0.01 × 10−3 and ZnSO4·7H2O 0.8 × 10−381. The floating-leaved T. natans plants were acclimatized for 7 days in modified 0.2-strength Hoagland’s nutrient solution (0.2 X HS).
