Guaiacol peroxidase (GPX) activity was estimated using the procedure described by Hemeda and Klein (1990). The solution containing phosphate buffer (25 mM), EDTA (0.1 mM), 0.05% guaiacol, H2O2 (1 mM), and the enzyme extract was assayed. The absorbance was measured at 470 nm with an extinction coefficient of 26.6 mM−1∙cm−1.
