The SOD activity was evaluated by observing its ability to inhibit the photochemical reduction of nitro blue tetrazolium (NBT) according to Giannopolitis and Ries46 method. The optical density (OD) was measured at 560 nm. The reaction mixture was 50 mM of sodium phosphate buffer (pH 7.8), 13 mM of methionine, 2 mM of riboflavin, 75 mM of NBT, 100 mM of EDTA and 100 mL of enzyme extract (Supplementary Data 1).
