Animals were divided into five groups and each group was composed of 10 rats. Three test groups were received NOEE in the concentrations of 125, 250 and 500 mg/kg, standard group was taken 10 mg/kg of indomethacin (Epoch Pharmaceutical Ltd. Pakistan) while distilled water was administered to the control group. After 1st dose of administration, approximately 10 mg of the aseptic cotton pellet was implanted subcutaneously in the back area of the anesthetized animals and treated once daily with standard and test solutions for 7 days. On the 8th day, animals were killed and implanted cotton pellets were removed and dried using a hot air oven at 65 °C. Then, weighed the pellets and calculate the weight gained after implantation, which was considered as granuloma formation [31].
The percent inhibition (PI) of granuloma formation in treated animals was calculated in comparison with a control group using the following formula:
