GST activity was measured using 1-chloro-2,4-dinitro-benzene (CDNB, Sigma-Aldrich) as the substrate. Ten-microliter samples were added to each well of a 96-well plate (SPL), and a 150 μl mixture containing 100 mM KH2PO4 pH 6.5, 1 mM CDNB, and 1 mM GSH was added to each well. Then, the mixtures were placed onto a microplate spectrophotometer (Bio-Rad) for measurement of the absorbance at 340 nm.
