The long-term biosafety study was conducted on healthy Balb/c mice for a 21-d period. Balb/c mice were (7 weeks) were randomly separated into two groups and injected with saline and Gd-MFe3O4 NPs (10 mg/kg). Blood samples were collected at 0, 1, 7, and 21-d after injection from the mice for blood routine and biochemistry analysis. Afterwards, major organs were harvested, fixed with 10% formalin, and subjected to histological analysis. The tissue histological samples were imaged using a microscope.
