mirVana kit: Extraction of RNA was performed according to the manufacturer’s protocol for the mirVanaTM miRNA Isolation Kit (Ambion, Life Technologies, Carlsbad, CA, USA), with 500 µL lysis/binding solution being used and the RNA being eluted in 50 µL of nuclease-free water (Transcriptomics Reference Method, a standard RNA kit). The extracted RNA was stored at −20 °C.
