It contains 29 items and seven subscales, satisfaction with life, efficacy, sociability/empathy, positive outlook, well-being, cheerfulness, and self-esteem. Each item is rated on a 4-point scale ranging from 0 to 3 (‘I do not feel happy’ to ‘I am incredibly happy’). The total score ranges from 0 to 87 with a higher score indicating greater happiness [1921]. The validity and reliability of the Persian OHI were verified in previous studies and its Cronbach's alpha was reported to be 0.98 [22].
