2.7. Dihydroethidium (DHE) Staining for ROS Production

Paraffin-embedded tissue sections of airways were prepared for DHE staining [30]. Airway tissues were stained by incubating for 1 h in 20 μM DHE (Invitrogen, Carlsbad, CA, USA). For the identification of nuclei, 4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) was given for 10 min. Stained tissues on slides were mounted and images were taken using an optical microscope (Carl Zeiss).
