Dying cells were labeled using the standard protocol of the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL technique) [37]. Tunel+ cells in the outer nuclear layer (ONL) were manually counted using an optic microscope. Means of counts were analyzed and plotted with Prism7 software.
