The removed SLNs were sent for immediate FS during the operation. After the operation, the nonstained bALNs were sent for pathological examination separately by resecting serial tissue every 0.5 cm away from the horizontal line and vertical line along the marginal blue-stained bALN (Fig. (Fig.2)2) [10]. All the retrieved bALNs were processed for routine hematoxylin and eosin staining for histology and immunohistochemically. The diameter, estrogen receptor status, progesterone receptor status and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 status of the primary tumor were also assessed as part of a routine pathology examination.
