The human ovarian cancer cell lines, SKOV3 (ATCC, Cell Systems & cGMP Biorepository) and Kuramochi (Japanese Collection of Research Bioresources), were employed in the present study. The SKOV3 cells and Kuramochi cells were grown in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium (DMEM; Gibco; Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc.) and RPMI-1640 (Gibco; Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc.), respectively. Culture media were supplemented with 10% (v/v) fetal bovine serum (FBS) (Gibco; Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc.) and 1% penicillin/streptomycin (Gibco; Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc.). Cells were maintained in an incubator at 37°C with 5% CO2. Cells at a passage of <10 and exhibiting >90% viability (measured by trypan blue staining, data not shown) were used in the experiments.
