Synthesised mPG1 peptides were dissolved in PBS [16]. The eyes of wild-type C57BL/6 mice were treated with eye drops of PBS containing 12 µM of mPG1 every 12 h for 5 days. Three mice were used for the induction, and PBS alone was used for the control group. Corneal images were obtained under the common fluorescent light at three different time points, namely, before the treatment and 2 and 5 days after the treatment. The presence and absence of opacity were initially determined by visual observation and further analysed based on the pixel intensities of the corneal images. Regions of the same size showing opacity were analysed for each mouse using ImageJ software (NIH, Bethesda, MD, U.S).
