Processing and analysis of protein samples were performed at the Central Service for Experimental Research (Valencia, Spain). Samples were digested with sequencing grade trypsin (Madison, WI 53711 USA) as described previously [48]. The digestion reactions were stopped with TFA (1 % final concentration) and then concentrated to 20 μL by speed vacuum to analyze 5 μL by liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS). The obtained data were analyzed by Mascot, and only the results with a score greater than 54 (P < 0.05) were considered statistically significant [49].
