GBMECs were prepared from the gerbils between 1 and 3 days and the frontal lobe cortical tissues of animals were used. The gBMECs were cultured in a 25-mm2 corning flask in Dulbecco’s modified Eagle medium (DMEM, 10% normal bovine serum albumin and 100 U/ml penicillin/streptomycin) supplemented with 1% endothelial cell growth supplement (ECGS), 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS), 100 μg/ml penicillin/streptomycin and 2 mM L-glutamine solution. The gBMECs were cultured in a 25 mm2 corning flask in Dulbecco’s modified Eagle medium (DMEM, 10% normal bovine serum albumin and 100 U/ml penicillin/streptomycin) supplemented with 1% ECGS, 10% FBS, 100 μg/ml penicillin/streptomycin and 2 mM L-glutamine solution. Between 3rd and 5th generation of cells was used in the subsequent experiment.
