2.7. Caspase-3 Activation Assay

Levels of caspase-3 were determined in cell cultures by using the caspase-3 colorimetric assay kit (K106-100; BioVision Inc., Milpitas, CA, USA), following the manufacturer’s instructions and previous studies [26]. Briefly, enzyme reactions were performed in 96-well microplates, and 50 μL of cell lysate was added to each reaction mixture. Absorbance at 405 nm was measured using a plate reader (POLARstar Omega).
