The Aldefluor kit (Stem Cell Technologies, Vancouver, BC, Canada) was used to determine the proportion of high ALDH enzyme viable cells. In the procedure, 1 × 106 cells in each group were resuspended n Aldefluor assay buffer containing ALDH substrate. After incubation at 37°C, the cells were centrifuged and resuspended in 500 µl Aldefluor buffer and then analyzed with Navios flow cytometer, where green fluorescent FL1 analysis indicated the number of ALDH+ cells.
