The DEMS experiments were performed with a commercial quadrupole mass spectrometer (Hiden Analytical) and a house-made Swagelok-type cell with K0.4Ni0.2Mn0.8O2 as cathode, sodium as anode and 1 M NaPF6 in ethylene carbonate (EC)/diethyl carbonate (DEC) (4:6 in volume) as electrolyte. The electrochemical test for DEMS is performed on a LAND battery testing system at room temperature. The carrier gas is high purity Ar-gas with a flow rate of 0.5 mL min−1.
