The activity of the oxalate oxidase enzyme was determined at time 0, 5, and 10 h of the CO2 restrictive experiment using the Oxalate Oxidase Activity Assay Kit (BioVision, Inc., Milpitas, CA, USA). Assays were performed following kit protocol using 20 mg of C. quitensis fresh leaves from 5 plants (n = 5). In this test, the decomposition of oxalate by an oxalate oxidase release hydrogen peroxide, which generates a fluorescent signal directly proportional to the amount of active oxalate oxidase present in samples.
