Inflammatory cytokines, interleukin-1β (IL-β), IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in serum were measured using ELISA kits, according to the manufacturer's instructions (R&D Systems Inc., Minneapolis, USA). The concentrations of the cytokines were quantified by referring to standard curves.
