Transfected cells were seeded into 96-well plates at 3×103 cells/well and cultured at 37°C. Following incubation for 0, 24, 48 and 72 h, 20 µl MTT (Sigma-Aldrich; Merck KGaA) was added into each well and incubated for a further 4 h at 37°C according to the manufacturer's instructions. Subsequently, the medium was removed and 150 µl dimethyl sulfoxide (Sigma-Aldrich; Merck KGaA) was added to dissolve the formazan crystals. The absorbance was measured at 450 nm using a microplate reader (Molecular Devices LLC).
