Basic/neutral and acidic extracts of the AFB were diluted stepwise 1:1 using redistilled diethyl ether and assessed by GC-O using the nonpolar column, as described in section “Gas Chromatography Analyses of Concentrated Aroma Extracts”. The flavor dilution (FD) factor for a specific odor region is defined as the highest dilution at which the odor can still be perceived at the sniffing port of GC-O.
