All the bacteria strains and plasmids used in this study are listed in Table 2. Aeromonas dhakensis AAK1, Staphylococcus aureus subsp. aureus ATCC 29213, Bacillus subtilis 3610, and Escherichia coli strains OP50, DH5α SM10 λπ and S17-1 λπ were cultured in a Luria-Bertani (LB) broth at 37°C for 16 hours. A. dhakensis AAK1 deletion and transposon mutants were cultured with 100 μg/ml kanamycin (Kan), and complement strains were cultured with 50 μg/ml chloramphenicol (Cm) in LB broth at 37°C for 16 hours. E. coli SM10 λπ pBSL180 strain was cultured with 50 μg/ml Kan in LB broth at 37°C for 16 hours.
