Bacteria strains and culture conditions

All the bacteria strains and plasmids used in this study are listed in ^{Table 2}. Aeromonas dhakensis AAK1, Staphylococcus aureus subsp. aureus ATCC 29213, Bacillus subtilis 3610, and Escherichia coli strains OP50, DH5α SM10 λπ and S17-1 λπ were cultured in a Luria-Bertani (LB) broth at 37°C for 16 hours. A. dhakensis AAK1 deletion and transposon mutants were cultured with 100 μg/ml kanamycin (Kan), and complement strains were cultured with 50 μg/ml chloramphenicol (Cm) in LB broth at 37°C for 16 hours. E. coli SM10 λπ pBSL180 strain was cultured with 50 μg/ml Kan in LB broth at 37°C for 16 hours.
