293FT cells (R70007; Invitrogen) were maintained in Dulbecco’s modified Eagle medium (DMEM) (FUJIFILM Wako Pure Chemical Corporation, Japan) supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS). 293FT cells stably expressing DSP1 and DSP2 (31,–33), kindly provided by Z. Matsuda, the University of Tokyo, were maintained in DMEM supplemented with 10% FBS and 1 μg/ml puromycin (InvivoGen, San Diego, CA).
