The virus strains used were WNV, Kunjin strain MRM61C (WNVKUN) (passage unknown, Genbank accession number KX394398.1), WNVKUN strain WNVFLSDX(Pro) (derived from the WNVKUN infectious clone FLDSX–Genbank accession number AY274504.1, with a proline substitution in residue 250 of NS1 [43]) and BgV prototype CY4270 (passage 6, passaged only in C6/36 cells, Genbank accession number KU308380 for a passage 2 stock). The WNV-derived chimeric fragments were generated from WNVKUN infectious clone WNVFLSDX(Pro).
