BALB/c mice (5 mice per group) were i.p. injected with the peptide (1 mg/kg) 1 h before the i.p. injection of E. coli K1 (1 × 106 CFU/mouse). Quantities of TNF-α and IL-6 in the mouse serum were determined using sandwich ELISA kits. Three control groups consisting of mice without any treatment, treated only with peptides, and treated only with E. coli were used and the experiments were performed three times independently.
