Samples were activated as previously described [20,49,50]. A final concentration of 7 mM MgCl2 was added to a 1 mg/mL solution of BmfR in 20 mM Tris, 200 mM NaCl. BeCl2 was added to the sample at a final concentration of 5 mM. NaF was then quickly added to a final concentration of 20 mM. The solution was mixed by gentle pipetting and incubated undisturbed at room temperature for at least 1 h.
