Growth of spheroids was followed by taking photographs with a wide-field light microscope before treatment and regularly after treatment for 3 or 9 days depending on the experiments using a Leica DMIRB microscope coupled to a coolSNAP HQ camera (Roper Scientific, Photometrics). The volume of the spheroids was determined following average diameter measurements using ImageJ software (NIH, Bethesda, USA) as previously described4,13,20.
