The shallow boreholes were drilled using submersible rigs constructed by COMRA. Samples were obtained from 205 stations the distribution of sampling sites is shown in Fig. 1. Core sizes are 300–1000 mm long and 50 mm in diameter. Core samples were classified, and the thickness of their crusts was measured in the laboratory. Statistical parameters of the data are shown in Fig. 3.
