Caspase-3 activity assay was carried out using Caspase-3 colorimetric assay kit (BioVision) according to the manufacturer protocols. Briefly, cells treated with ceramide were incubated with reaction buffer and DEVD-pNA substrate at 37 °C for 1 h. Caspase-3 activity was measured at 405 nm in a microtiter plate reader.
