2.3. Protein Isolation and Western Blot Analysis

Tissue samples were processed as described previously [22] to perform western blot analyses. Primary and secondary antibodies used to detect specific targets on the blotting membrane were diluted as indicated in Supplementary Materials, Table S3. Specific bands were detected on the membranes with the BIORAD molecular imager ChemiDOC TM XRS + imaging system (Bio-Rad Laboratories, Munich, Germany) and densitometrically quantified using the Image Lab software version 5.2.1 (Bio-Rad Laboratories). Details on the method can be found in [22]. Analysis was performed on multiple placentas per dam as indicated in the figure legend.
