The preparation of CSE was performed as described in our previous study (25). Briefly, smoke fog from five cigarettes (Bai Sha) was bubbled through 10 ml of RPMI-1640 medium at a constant airflow and then was sterile filtered through a 0.22 μm filter (Millipore). Absorbance value was constant (4.0 ± 0.05) by measuring at a wavelength of 320 nm.
