The elevated plus maze test is an assay that is widely used in rodents to assess anxiety-like behavior [49]. The apparatus consisted of two open arms (8 × 25cm) and two closed arms of the same size with 30 cm high transparent walls. The arms were constructed of white plastic plates and were elevated to a height of 40 cm above the floor. Arms of the same type were located opposite to each other. Each mouse was placed in the central square of the maze, facing one of the closed arms, and was allowed to move freely between the two arms for 10 min. The number of arm entries, distance traveled (m), and time spent in the open arms were video recorded and analyzed using video tracking software (ANY-MAZE, Stoelting Co., Wood Dale, IL, USA).
