2.5. Global DNA Methylation Quantification

Global DNA methylation was quantified with a MethylFlash Methylated DNA Quantification Kit-Colorimetric (Epigentek) following the manufacturer’s protocol. The input DNA amount was 100 ng per reaction. The absorbance was measured at 450 nm and the percentage of DNA methylation (5-methyl cytosine %; 5-mC%) was calculated according to the following equation:
