Chlorophyll content was measured according to Arnon (1949) using homogenizing leaf samples (0.5 g) with 10 mL of acetone (80 % v/v) followed by centrifuging at 10,000×g for 10 min. Absorbance was measured with a UV–visible spectrophotometer at 663 and 645 nm for chl a and chl b contents, respectively. Carotenoid content was also measured spectrophotometrically at wave length 470 nm.
