The total phenolic contents and total flavonoid content of the G. sphacelata fruits were measured using the Folin-Ciocalteu and FeCl3 method previously described by our work with some modifications [35]. For TP, the results were expressed as mg of gallic acid equivalents per gram of dry fruit. While for the TF content results were presented as mg of quercetin equivalents per gram of dry fruit. The determination was performed using a Synergy HTX microplate reader (Biotek, Winoosky, VT, USA), in triplicate and reported as the mean ± SD.
