Microalgae dry weight per liter (g L−1) was measured according to the method reported by Savvidou et al. [20]. Microalgae cells were collected by centrifugation of wet biomass at 7160× g (Beckman Model J2-21 Centrifuge) for 10 min. Prior to gravimetric analysis, in order to remove the salts, the centrifuged cells were washed twice with distilled water followed by drying at 105 °C overnight and the results were reported as g of dry cell weight (DCW) [44]. Biomass concentration values (X, g L−1) were used for determining the maximum biomass concentration (Xmax) on the 14th day of cultivation.
