The TEAC method is based on the reaction of ABTS•+ ions and was carried out according to the method described by Zulueta et al. [18] with minor modifications. An ABTS•+ working solution was prepared daily by diluting the ABTS•+ stock solution with distilled water to get an absorbance of 0.07 ± 0.02 at 734 nm. Briefly, 50 μL aliquots of the sample solutions were each mixed with 1.0 mL ABTS•+ working solution. Each mixture was incubated at 25 °C in the dark for 5 min and absorbance was measured using a SpectraMax M2e microplate reader at 734 nm. The sample extract activity was expressed as mM trolox/g dry sample and all determinations were carried out in triplicate.
