The methacrylate-functionalized PGE polymer used in this study was synthesized using methacrylic anhydride as described in the literature.18 Briefly, the PGE polymer precursor was dissolved in dry THF under a nitrogen atmosphere. Triethylamine was added, and the mixture was heated at 65 °C for 30 min. Methacrylic anhydride was then added, and the mixture was stirred for 16 h at 65 °C. The reaction mixture was then precipitated into cold ether. The polymer was collected and washed twice with additional ether, once with hexane, and dried under vacuum for 24 h to afford the methacrylate-functionalized PGE polymer (PGE-DMA) as an off-white solid.
