The open field test is a routine method to measure locomotor activity and anxiety-like behavior in rodents [51]. The test was performed in a round arena made of black PVC (diameter 80 cm) which was divided into three zones (center, inner, outer). The animals were placed individually in the center of the open field. Distance moved and time spent in the center of the open field was recorded for 5 min and analyzed with EthoVision®XT7 software (Noldus Information Technology, Wagening, Netherlands).
